how YOU doin'?

Hey deeudes!! It's Caffy. Just thought I'd update you on what I've been up to. I would post a pic but my batteries are dead...so anyways. I've been home for just over 2 weeks now and it's been going really well. I'm enjoying visiting family and friends and catching up with everyone. I feel like I've been so busy doing that though, that I haven't had much time to chill by myself and really reflect on the past 6 months. So I am slowly working on that, going through lecture notes, going through our millions of pictures and sharing with people how my experience was. But God is totally providing in many ways- providing me with money, borrowing my sisters car for a few days...AND...I'm working fulltime at camp again in the registration department! I'm so thankful, it's good to be back. It's just till June so I'll be looking for a job again but that's okay.

I find it easy to get back into your "old" routine of life again, easy to ignore God and just do your own thing. But since going to DTS I really feel closer to God and am aware more and more of his presence in my life. So my quiet times have been going well, but of course I could always improve!

In reading the "re-entry" book I felt to share my thoughts what it says on page 74 and 75 about your identity- it says "We are sons and daughters of God. Whether we were missionaries or not has nothing to do with how God views us. He may be pleased with our diligent service, but that doesn't elevate us to the status of a priveledged child." I thought that was really cool 'cause it can be easy to think you are better than others because you did a DTS but this reminds us that we are all equal in God's eyes and we must act accordingly!

So thanks for reading, I love and miss you all. Email me how you are doing. Keep up the emails and posts and stuff, let's keep eachother accountable in things if you want to:D
Love Cathy

From Hong Kong

Hey people, I'm in hong kong and was actully able to sleep lieing on three chairs for six hours last night, that was an accomplishment. so I still got about 7 more hours here but stumbled on free internet so that might keep me busy for a bit.

Top three lines would have to be;

1) "Why Henry? Thats not funny. There are so many things you could do that are funny. But thats not funny."
2) " We don't just athletisize, we evangilize, we prophecize, while we circum... navigate the globe."
3)"Hey, check this out. Clap on Lights!!"

els butt, i mean bit

so im well impressed with this blog simon, great job mate!!! im in freo at the moment, its great to jus chill out with joanne, chat and im on the phone to miri lauvskar as we speak...i mean msn...well good!!! hahaha. so i love most of you guys...especially henry...hehehe. wasnt dts great?!!! as u know im stayin here in perth and waitin for miriam to come and look after me...also outreach in bali, thailand and figi over the next few months...wooo!!!

so my fave three phases for the outreach ans leccy phase...

'dude, thats grossy, take yourself together!' tops it, henrys 'so are we dating now?' then jess' 'hehehahahahaha!!?? i dont know why im laughing' or vince singing to r kelly...
anyways later peeps. love.

strangely difficult

i just got back from the airport.
It feels about right.
To post a new entry.

It is a new chapter.

And it's weird to send people off to the airport
We should all just leave on the same day
it just feels strange for the people who stay behind
Saying goodbye to people you lived with for 6 mths(some say 7 years) is tough

I feel it now cos there's nothing tomorrow
They're gone.
No more.
No more us.
No more instructions for the number of toast i should eat.
No more reminders to bring my bible for devotion
No more "8am, ready to go."

They've been there every morning
Groggy faces, big haired, half opened eye at morning exercise
We share the toilet reluctantly, racing to be ahead in the queue for the toaster/butter/jam/mee goreng bowl/toilet bowl

We huddled together on trucks, vans, buses,
singing to the karaoke in Thai,
worshipping, big bootying, wet willying,
play fighting, telling stories, sleeping

We shifted houses 9 times in 6 months
We laughed and cried together,
We removed our masks
6 months was long enough

We shouted out prayers and praises
We stood together and believed
We saw money switch hands
in hours, fees paid

We didn't always agree
We kept silent during long rides
We retreated into our worlds
but
We also learnt to come back
We fought battles
Our own and together
We heard, we saw, we did, we grew

We laughed, danced, partied,
limbo-ed, farted, burped
We ate, shopped, ate

We kicked, threw,bumped,
passed, shot, scored
volleyed, smashed, surfed
sand, sweat, blood,
beard,puke, crap

Cement slabs, plywood, nuts and bolts
splinters, sandwiches, shakes and roos
We've seen it all

Some i'll miss, definitely more than others
yet it's strangely difficult
to omit these characters from tomorrow

Time's up, but inertia keeps the inside ticking away
i rest but still feel tired
i look and one more is gone

For a time gone and never to return
It left a mark, an imprint to remember
"Know God, and make Him known"
Where ever
However
Forever

You'll be hard to forget,The Originals-Sports DTS

emotions

Hey originals!
I wanted to just say hi and hope you are doing well. We are officially done DTS!! Well the 7 of you who left are done, but the remaining 10 of us were done yesterday. Praise the Lord for an amazing time- an awesome 6 months. Life-changing. I haven't wanted to be anywhere else, God truly led me here.
We've had a great week of debrief and re-entry talk. I feel prepared to go home but also just need to pray a little more and prepare myself. I have a looong journey home with a 20 hour layover in Hong Kong to reflect on everything!
Last night Simon and I went with Trisha to take Laura to the airport. I cried a bit again because goodbyes for me are hard, but also it's a happy cry because I am so thankful to God for the awesome friends I have met and the gifts he's given me and the awesome memoriesof DTS. The past 3 days a bunch of us have been hanging out with Paulinho and Matheus from TX, and we had to say bye to them too. They are amazing guys, all of the TX are so awesome and I have felt priveledged to serve with them and hang out with TX.
love Cathy
a.k.a. cathinator or muesli girl- inside joke for our IWT team, ask me if you want to know why!! haha
